About Aloha Gives

More Than a Website. A Reason to Give.

Aloha Gives was created from a simple thought — what if building something for my own business could also help build something for someone else?

WebWaku was created to help small businesses get online, look professional, and create opportunities for themselves. But as I built WebWaku, I started thinking about what else that opportunity could create.

Every website represents someone taking a step forward. A business owner investing in their dream. Someone deciding that they're ready to grow. Someone putting their name, their work, and their story out into the world.

I wanted a piece of that growth to mean something beyond the website itself.

That's where Aloha Gives came from.

Aloha Gives is an ongoing giving initiative created through WebWaku. The purpose is to use a portion of the revenue generated through qualifying WebWaku projects, along with my own personal contributions, to support disaster-relief efforts and communities in need.

The first place I wanted to focus that effort is Hawaiʻi.

Hawaiʻi has experienced devastating hurricanes, storms, fires, and other disasters that have affected families, communities, homes, businesses, and entire areas of the islands. Behind every disaster statistic are real people trying to rebuild their lives.

I don't want Aloha Gives to simply be a page that says we care. I want it to be something that actually does something.

That means being intentional about where the money goes. Contributions will be directed toward verified relief organizations and legitimate efforts serving people affected by disasters. As this project grows, I want to be transparent about the organizations involved, the contributions made, and the impact those contributions have.

I'm also not creating Aloha Gives as a one-time campaign. I want this to be ongoing.

WebWaku will continue to grow, and my goal is for Aloha Gives to grow alongside it. That could mean supporting different relief efforts, contributing to new organizations, helping communities after future disasters, or finding other meaningful ways to give back.

I don't know exactly how far this project will go yet. And that's okay. Every meaningful thing has to start somewhere.

For me, it starts with using something I know how to do — building websites and helping businesses grow — and turning a portion of that opportunity into something that can help other people.

There is no promise that one website will change the world.

But if one website can help a business grow, and that growth can help someone else, then that's a start. If ten websites can do it, that's more. If a hundred can do it, that's even more.

And if WebWaku continues to grow for years, I want Aloha Gives to still be here, giving back along the way.

Why “Aloha”?

Aloha is more than a word. It's often associated with love, compassion, kindness, peace, and a way of treating others with care and respect. That's the spirit I want behind this project.

Our Story

Hawaiʻi has been a dream in my family for as long as I can remember.

Why Hawaiʻi? This project started long before it had a name. It started with a family dream — and a deep love of the ocean.

My mom has wanted to visit Hawaiʻi since she was a little girl. She's always been fascinated by the mountains, the culture, the ocean, the surfing, the events, and everything that makes the islands feel like their own little piece of heaven on Earth.

I've never been to Hawaiʻi myself, but I've always felt drawn to the water. To me, there's something about being around the ocean that you can't really explain. It's therapy. It's healing. It's a place where you can clear your mind, breathe, and just feel present.

That's part of what has always fascinated me about Hawaiʻi — the water, the waves, the surfing, the wildlife, and the incredible underwater world surrounding the islands. Seeing the ocean through the eyes of people who live there makes me want to experience it for myself someday.

I've also always loved the people who capture that world. Clark Little is one of my favorite photographers, and his work has given me a different appreciation for the power and beauty of the ocean. I've followed surfers and athletes from Hawaiʻi like John John Florence, Bethany Hamilton, Carissa Moore, and Max Holloway, and I love seeing the talent, determination, and pride that comes out of the islands.

I also have friends who live there, which makes Hawaiʻi feel a little closer to home.

So when I started thinking about what WebWaku could build that was bigger than just another website, Hawaiʻi kept coming back to me.

I may not have visited yet. My mom may still be waiting for the trip she's dreamed about since she was a little girl. But I thought — maybe we could send a little aloha ahead of us.

That's where Aloha Gives was born. A website built with technology, but created with something much more important in mind: giving back.

Why I Created Aloha Gives

I'm Rando — I build websites for a living, and Aloha Gives is the piece of this work that means the most to me.

Hawaiʻi has lived in my family's heart for as long as I can remember. My mom has dreamed of visiting the islands since she was a little girl, and her love for that place planted something in me. I've never been there yet, but the ocean has always been the place where I clear my head and feel grounded.

When I started WebWaku, I wanted it to be more than just a business. Aloha Gives is that answer — a way to take the work I love and turn it into something that gives back to the islands and the people who call them home.

This is my way of sending a little aloha ahead of us.

Why Hawaiʻi

Because Hawaiʻi means something to us. This project was inspired by a lifelong dream my mom has had to visit Hawaiʻi, and by my own connection to the ocean, its beauty, and the people who call the islands home.

Where does the money go?

Donations will go toward verified disaster-relief organizations supporting communities affected by natural disasters in Hawaiʻi.

Is Aloha Gives a nonprofit?

No. Aloha Gives is a community-focused project created by WebWaku to help raise awareness and direct support toward verified relief efforts.

How does buying a website help?

When you purchase a website through WebWaku, a portion of the proceeds is committed to Hawaiʻi disaster relief.

Can I donate without buying a website?

Yes. Aloha Gives is about giving back—not just buying something. Direct donation options will be provided through verified relief partners.

Why did you create this?

Because sometimes you don’t have to be from somewhere to care about it. We wanted to use what we know—building websites—to create something that could help give back.

How will I know where the money goes?

Transparency matters. We plan to share updates on contributions and the organizations receiving support as the project grows.

How much does WebWaku give?

10%–20% of qualifying website purchases will be given toward verified disaster-relief efforts supporting communities in Hawaiʻi. The exact contribution may vary by project, but the commitment is simple: when WebWaku grows, we give back.

Because we want Aloha Gives to be something we can sustain—not just something we say. As WebWaku grows, our goal is to give as much as we responsibly can while continuing to build a business that can keep giving.
